This Saturday, 22nd April, Crewe take on newly crowned Intermediate ‘A’ Champions Dollingstown in the Semi-final of the Marshall Cup. Dollingstown travel to Crewe Park with spirits high after clinching the league title last Saturday with a 2-0 victory over fellow challengers Fivemiletown. However thoughts now turn to this mouth watering Semi Final between the two sides with Intermediate ‘B’ side Craigavon City awaiting in the final after beating the odds to defeat the much fancied Banbridge Rangers.
Crewe have been in a decent run of form themselves with only a poor result and performance against Ballymacash the only negative over the last 5 games. Peter Kennedy’s men have been hampered in recent weeks with injury and suspensions but have battled their way to some good performances.
Indeed the season has seen more progress with the Glenavy men looking likely to beat their points haul of last season as they see out the remainder of their fixtures and also the Irish Cup run was the best in the clubs history. The Marshall Cup too is a competition that Crewe have never really had any impact but this year making the Semi Final marks a new milestone for the club.
Dollingstown start out as firm favourites for the game but Crewe are sure to want to put up a good fight in a competition that represents that last opportunity for silverware this season. The final is scheduled for the evening of Friday 5th May at Crystal Park, home of Banbridge Town.
The game kicks off at 2.15pm at Crewe Park and everyone is welcome to what should be a cracking game.
