Yesterday our 2014/15 girls were lucky enough to help out as mascots for Wexford Youths Womens Football Club in their game against Lisburn Rangers Ladies at Crewe Park.
The players and officials from both teams were absolutely brilliant with our girls, chatting to them about their match and signing autographs and getting some pictures with them.
It was amazing to see the enthusiasm our 9/10 year old girls have for the game and seeing the quality of football on show yesterday will hopefully inspire them even more to continue enjoying their football journey.

2015s girls v Lisburn Rangers 2013s
Our girls last league game of the season was played out at Crewe as we faced Lisburn Rangers 2013s for the first time this season.
Starting line up consisted of:
GK- Cadhla Ros
Defence- Bella, Isla
Midfield- Aoife Mc, Laila, Maddie
Forward- Abbie
Subs- Roise, Izzy, LK, Talia
As the game started the girls came out all guns blazing with Aoife starting like a girl who meant business with her eagerness to get her team forward and winning the ball high up field, this allowed Abbie to use her physical attributes to drive the team further forward which led to a few attempts at goal from Laila and Maddie with both girls having early opportunities to open the scoring.
Laila in the middle of the park was her ever dominating self and was able to use her nifty foot work to bring our wide players into the game with Aoife, Maddie, Izzy and Talia all reaping the rewards of Lailas efforts.
Our defence held strong early on with Cadhla Ros not having much to do except concentrate on her kick outs which she brilliantly used her learnings over the season to go short or long when the situation was needed, shows how far along CR has come that this is now second nature to her.
Bella, Isla were both rock solid during the early stages and protected the backline well, Bella was always a valuable attacking asset for the girls with her wonderful throw-ins which led to our first goal of the game which Abbie who was always eager to get on the ball was able to finish smartly into the bottom corner tto give the girls a deserved lead. With Isla always having her nice calm approach to both defending and playing out from the back something that Isla has excelled at of late and dealing with any of the LR attacks Isla helped deal with these with ease.
As the half went on changes were made with Roise, Talia, LK and Izzy all coming on and adding a valuable contribution to her game Roise playing out of position as a forward was able to use her quick feet and create a couple of good attacking options for both herself and others, Taila being the speed demon used her pace and power well to drive the girls onto a new level and also had a few chances to get on the scoreboard herself sadly Lisburn Rangers had an inspired GK Today that prevented the girls from adding to their early lead.
Izzy booming with confidence from the earlier game was always eager to take on her opponent and showed some quick thinking and footwork to dazzle the watching crowd.
Lk came on and added a little more physicality to the backline and was also on hand to use her passing options and get the team moving up the field.
As the game progressed the girls lacked some concentration levels and surprisingly found themselves 2-1 down but this then kicked the girls into gear with Laila scoring to level the scores with a lovely finish, the chance was created by some absolutely amazing football and one touch passing between the girls in the build up with Roise playing a lovely pass out from the back to Izzy who smartly passed wide with Aoife playing a through ball to Laila to finish.
Sadly the game ended two each and both teams settled for a point a piece.
REFEREE POTM - Aoife McG
The referee named Aoife due to unbelievable performance nothing but positive comments from the ref regarding all the girls but Aoifes performance stood out for him.
Well done Aoife and the team.

2015 v Carryduff
The girls played their Last Small Sided Game of the season against a physical Carryduff team who gave our girls a very good game and very much tested the girls physically.
As the game started Carryduff played some super football and had a few surging runs towards our Defensive due of Aine and Ivy who held strong and protected Cadhla Ros who when called upon made some super saves.
Our midfield and forward players started to get more more of the ball and allowed us to pepper the Carryduff goal with some efforts with Eloise, Aoife J and Captain Kiana all playing some beautiful football.
As the half progressed Roise Izzy and Amirah were introduced and this allowed the girls to up the tempo a little with Amirah holding the ball up well and bringing in Roise and Izzy into play and this worked brilliantly when Ivy won the ball high up fed a lovely ball to Amirah who found Izzy to put the girls 1 up.
Carryduff swiftly equalised due to a mix up in the backline but this didn't stop the girls continuing their fine form with Kiana and Eloise giving tonnes of energy backed up with Aoife and Amirah who were battling for every ball.
Roise and Izzy linked up with some lovely cross field passes which allowed Izzy to send a 🚀 into the bottom corner to send the girls off the program with a win and smiles on their faces.
POTM - Joint award Ivy and Aine, what a great partnership these two have formed they now seem to know each others game well and both girls love a physical battle and today they got to showcase this in abundance - two absolute rock solid performances Well Deserved POTM to you both.
As a side note, the girls this season have come on immensely and are an absolute joy to work with from a coaching perspective, this group of girls are always listening and taking feedback onboard which allows them to improve and develop.
Keep up the great work
Match report: Crewe 2017s v Bloomfield - Fonacab league - Sat 26 April
Top match! It was end-to-end action in wet conditions at Falls Park, huge well done to both teams for shaking off the shivers, giving it their all, and playing attractive football :)
Some highlights included Theo’s Declan Rice-esque free kick, Caleb’s second-period goal flurry, Lucia’s mastery on the left wing, and Matthew’s super-quick passing. Everyone played in every position and it was wonderful to see everyone get on the scoresheet, and try really hard to contend with Bloomfield’s threat especially on the wings.
Player of the Week was Louie! It can be a tough gig being a coach’s son in that you might have to wait for this award at times, but we are so proud of Louie every week and it’s a joy to see just how much he wants to be on the ball and impact every area of the pitch. Top marks for your attitude and resilience this week, and for your all-round play. Brilliant to see so many smiles at the end of the game! 🔴⚪️
🔴⚪️ *2018s vrs Bloomfield match report*⚪️🔴
Super competitive game we had this morning at Orangefield. Despite going 1 nil down early the guys never gave up
Jonah was a rock at the back showing fancy foot work and some last ditch defending, goal line clearance was superb
Eva Rose and Emelie gave everything in midfield and never dogded a tackle, 2 superstars
Conor showed determination taking on Bloomfields defense time and time again, helping out with the goals
Our POTM was Frankie. What a game Frankie had today. After a bad challenge on him, he picked himself up, took the free kick and put it in the top bins, peach of a goal. Never stopped, footwork fantastic, goal scoring superb, captain fantastic today
Well done everyone ⚪️🔴
2018s vs larne @solitude
The boys got off to a sluggish start against a very well drilled larne side. Larne could only field 4 players which isn’t ideal this meant a lot of rotation for our team
Tadgh and Harry took charge of our defensive line and drove the ball up the pitch at every opportunity they could
Adam and James battled hard all game pressing larne and not letting them settle on the ball
Jude and Toby were impressive up front all match on another day could have bagged a hat trick each.
POTM was Toby not only for the goal threat but also his constant battling for the whole match 🏅⚽️
🔴⚪2018 v Ballyclare⚪🔴
What a performance!!!!
On a wet, miserable morning in Junior Park our girls and boys definitely brightened up my morning with a top class performance. The effort from all players and to see them all enjoying themselves was a joy to watch.
From the great defending and tackling in defence right through to the dribbling and skills in midfield to the finishing and goals up front we were on it today.
At the back Sofia and Elysha were determined not to concede and put their bodies in front of everything and also played some lovely football out and dribbled when they could.
We had to put Fionn in defence halfway through the game as he was terrorising the Ballyclare defence with his skills and deadly finishing.
Owen and Mollie in midfield were busy when they didn't have the ball not giving to opposition any time to progress up field. They also played some lovely passes through to our forward players.
Harper has all the skills to pay the bills and was a constant threat up top finishing with a few goals and creating all sorts of trouble every time she was on the ball.
Our POTW today was Sofia, strong at the back, winning her challenges and dribbling out from defence into the space in front. She even managed to chip in with a well taken goal and when subbed off claimed she had to get player of the week for that alone lol 🤷♂️ who am I to argue.
Great start to a Saturday for all, well done guys ⚽🔴⚪
