Head of Youth Academy

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Crewe United FC to help lead the club’s ever growing Youth Academy. Working alongside the club’s main Committee, Director of Football and Senior Team Management, you will contribute to the club’s overall football strategy and be responsible for all Academy functions.

The club is seeking applications from ambitious, driven leaders with experience of working within football and with significant coaching experience and can demonstrate strategic thinking within the game.

This is a superb opportunity for someone wishing to become involved with our progressive club and join us on our journey as we continue to provide football in the local area for over 200 children within our Academy.

  • Minimum of three years of experience in youth or senior football

Key Responsibilities:

  • Creation of an Academy development strategy in line with the club’s ambitions and overall club strategy and to include the recruitment, retaining and progression of Academy players
  • Developing a coach education programme and plan for all Academy coaches
  • Leading an Academy Committee and delegation of duties to ensure responsibility and accountability within Academy structures
  • Providing a pathway for players and coaches into the senior football structures of the club
  • Working alongside the Senior Team Management to develop a football philosophy, a thread which will run throughout the club and to ensure that the Academy’s coaching programme is delivered consistently throughout the development phases
  • It is a role that is working with coaches, rather than working with players and the applicant should recognise this distinction
  • Developing a scouting team, network and structure, with all relevant processes in place

Reporting Lines:

  • Internal – The applicant will take their place on the main Club Committee. They will report on a regular basis to the club’s Director of Football
  • External – Irish Football Association, Leagues, Schools and other clubs

Knowledge & Experience:

  • Leadership and/or management qualification is desirable but not essential
  • Qualified to a minimum of UEFA ‘B’ or ‘C’ Licence
  • Experience of working at a high level within the football pyramid
  • Experience within youth development and player and coach progression
  • Proven track record of developing and progressing Youth Team structures
  • A strong network within football in Northern Ireland at all levels
  • Excellent organisational, administrative and presenting skills
  • Appropriate IT skills in a range of packages including Microsoft Word, Excel etc
  • Excellent leadership skills
  • Passionate, enthusiastic and driven to succeed with ambition to match that of our club

Requirement:

This is a post which carries significant responsibility for the effective operation of the Academy function of Crewe United FC. It involves flexibility in working hours, including working evenings and weekends. The post requires the individual to be a strong leader, one who inspires others and drives standards and high performance behaviours.

Remuneration:

The remuneration related to this post will be in line with the applicants experience and time available to dedicate to the post, up to £6,000 per annum.
