We had some more sad news yesterday morning that one of our esteemed Vice-Presidents, Ron Wilson had passed away.
Ron has been an ever present at our Annual Formals since the time he was head of Diadora UK and he chose Crewe as one of the teams to sponsor in Northern Ireland in what was a golden era of sponsorship for the club.
Diadora kits, boots, training gear was supplied without question to our senior and youth teams from the mid 90’s for many, many years. That was all down to Ron, and it was his gratitude for then Chairman Tom McKenna introducing Ron and Diadora to Linfield, through another Vice President of the Club, George Keenan, who was also on the Board at Windsor Park at that time.
Our friendship with Ron, and his long-time friend Jackie Baines, was to be ever lasting and we so looked forward to see him every year.
We are eternally grateful to Ron for his enduring support for our club, his friendship, and the many good times and laughter we shared together. The wee Scots man with a whiskey in his hand will never be forgotten at Crewe Park.
