The club extends huge congratulations to our resident pitch contractor, Joel Dawson, for achieving a 1st Class Honours in his Masters In Engineering from the University Of Ulster.
Joel first came to the club 4 years ago as we began the construction of our 2nd grass pitch and alongside Cecil Haffey, he has learn’t from the very best. Since then Joel has taken over responsibility for the maintenance of our pitches all year round and what a fantastic job he has done.
We are very proud that our club and facilities are part of the current Euro 2028 bid for the UK & ROI to host the Tournament with Crewe Park included as a possible training base for the tournament participants. We couldn’t have been part of that without Joel and his work on the pitches. When UEFA representatives visited late last year they were very impressed with the standard of all our pitches.
Through summer and winter he has been ever present to allow our teams to play on the best pitches in the country and are always immaculate for match days. He has a work ethic and pride in his work which is very hard to find today and is always willing to help us out whenever he can.
Given the amount of work he has put in around our club, as well as other contracts he had, it is a remarkable achievement to have started his own business, dedicated so much time to it, and still come out of his studies with 1st Class Honours.
Not dwelling on his exam success yesterday, it was a long shift as he was working until 3am getting the pitches in shape for next season. Huge thank you for all your work Joel and many congratulations from everyone at Crewe park!
