Crewe hit the Mark, as Magennis takes up Post

As the youth teams at Crewe Park continue to grow and attract young players at a fantastic rate the club have appointed Mark Magennis as Youth Team & Ladies Development Officer.

With the newly formed Crewe Cubs and Little Stars for boys and girls aged 4-10, as well as existing older age groups, the appointment of Magennis marks the intentions of how important the youth teams are to the club.

Committee member Peter Moorhead commented ‘Mark’s appointment is fantastic for the club and he will oversee the structures within the youth teams to ensure we can continue to build upon the recent growth. It is great to see so many local kids involved and that is important to the club and our future. The training facilities at Crewe are fantastic and it is important we match that in terms of the kids coaching experiences and how they have fun learning to play football’. He added, ‘Mark has a wealth of experience on and off the pitch and will bring a professionalism to the youth teams and Ladies team and help us progress in a really positive way’.

Mark has vast experience having played in the professional ranks with Coventry City and Carlisle before returning to play in NI. On taking up his role Mark said, ‘Crewe is a massive club and the facilities are second to none and many Irish League clubs would love to have this setup. It is a great club for kids to come and enjoy football and be able to play and train at their home ground. I am excited to be part of a really ambitious club. I am looking forward to helping to develop the coaches at the club and help produce kids for the Senior men’s and ladies teams’.

Despite the challenges of coming out of lockdown, the last few weeks have seen a positivity and energy from the children and parents alike, and everyone at Crewe wishes Mark good luck in his new role with us as we continue the development of the club on and off the pitch.
