Normal Service was resumed this week as Crewe got back to winning ways in convincing fashion with a 3 goal win over Fivemiletown at the Valley Stadium.

The Fivemiletown pitch passed a pitch inspection early on Saturday morning but conditions were difficult on the wet surface. However, it was Crewe who got on the front foot from the off, pressuring the home defence when they were in possession of the ball.
It wasn’t long before the chances came and Thomas Robinson thought he had scored on 8 minutes when his shot came off the inside of the post when it looked a certain goal. The pressure continued with Robinson and McMullan looking dangerous down each flank, but it was full back Tiernan McAuley who hit the woodwork again with a superb shot from 20 yards which careered off the cross bar and behind to safety.
The Crewe midfield saw the return of Tiernan Mulvenna from suspension and his energy was too much for Fivemiletown, and he was ably assisted by Harmon and Brannigan in controlling affairs. Indeed, after McMullan had been hauled down, it was Aaron Harmon who delivered a perfect free kick for Jason Johnston to glance into the far corner past the hapless McCarney on 35 minutes.
After the goal Crewe seemed to sit back a little with the only noteworthy event before the half time whistle being Brannigans volley which went out for a throw in.

The second half started in the same vein as the first, with Crewe determined to get a second goal and put the game to bed. It came after only 5 minutes of the second half gone when the impressive Robinson raided down the right hand side and, without any support in sight, he drove on and hammered past McCarney for a fine individual goal.
McQuitty and Youle at the heart of the Crewe defence dealt with any long balls as Crewe stayed in control of the game and kept Fivemiletown’s Warrington quiet as the half continued. Crewe should have had a penalty when Johnston was shoved in the back but Tiernan Mulvenna sealed a superb win with a dipping and swerving effort from 25 yards which hit the back of the net with 3 minutes left on the clock.
It was a great response after last weeks disappointment of losing our first league game of the season and manager Eamonn McCarthy was delighted with the performance and the 3 points at a ground which is always difficult to win at.
