Crewe United Ladies have a new management team at the helm for the much anticipated 2021 season which will hopefully begin in May after last years season being lost to the Covid pandemic.
Anto McDonald and Paul McDonnell are no strangers to the management role and have had great success together with the Youth teams at Crewe Park and are responsible for bringing through the current crop of fantastic young players in the Reserves.
Anto was also assistant manager in the Ladies team 3 years ago and many of the current ladies team will be familiar faces to him. The duo take over at a very exciting time for the Ladies as the club recently finished the £120,000 construction of dedicated grass pitch for them and floodlights and additional changing facilities are in the pipeline.
The club would like to place on record our thanks to outgoing manager William Devine. Willy is staying within the club and will be assisting with club development including futsal and the girls youth sections. Willy’s record of one League title and two promotions has been fantastic for the Ladies football at Crewe.
Thanks also to his assistant Danny Chapman who has been a great asset and is moving to the girls youth section as we look to grow dedicated younger teams for girls. It is encouraging to see former players such as Willy and Danny contributing so much to the club.
Finally a special mention to for Laura Devine who helped Willy throughout his tenure both on and off the pitch. She is the first current Crewe player to gain a NI International Cap with the Futsal squad and we hope she too will play a big part in the clubs future.
With the new season not far away and restrictions due to be lifted in mid April we are on the look out for new Ladies and indeed younger girls for our teams. Our Club continues to provide thee best training and playing facilities for our Ladies and girls teams and we would welcome anyone, regardless of ability, to come and join the Crewe family. Details of training will be advertised in coming days on our social media outlets.
